Hey all, How interchangeable are SAS and SATA drives/controllers? Do you have to have a special controller card that is designed to be backwards compatible or is SAS natively compatible with SATA controllers? I.E. Would a modern chipset (ICH9 or so) support a SAS drive plugged into the onboard? My thought is if they're compatible, could someone theroretically swap out a laptop size SATA drive with a 15k SAS drive and still have it work? Just something running through my head. Please help. I didn't find the right solution from the Internet. References: arstechnica.com/civis/viewtopic.php?t=76013Data Backup Software Video Thanks
